⚡ We will have multiple VR headsets such as the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift featuring interactive experiences and the latest cutting-edge VR games of all styles / all genres from around the world. Attendees will also have the opportunity to experience 360 films and documentaries created by Freelance Society and the keynote speakers. Provided by Springboard VR and their partners.

Dylan Roberts & Christian Stephen, the founders of Freelance Society are taking full control of the virtual reality experience for Tulsa Overground Film & Music Festival this year! Setting up a VR experience room with 10-plus VR headsets, 360 cameras, and the latest in virtual reality technology for May 5th and 6th. On May 6th we are having a panel speaking event called Tulsa VR / 360 Forum, bringing in creators and industry leaders who will share their experiences in this industry, followed by a Q&A.

Dylan Roberts

Dylan Roberts is a proud Texan, born in Dallas and growing up in Austin, he became a die hard Dallas Cowboys fan and first learned filmmaking at Austin Film Society. He graduated from the University of Arkansas (Fayetteville) in 2012, having majored in broadcast journalism. At the age of 18, Dylan began traveling internationally as a journalist, filmmaker and VR producer. Through media, Dylan has been able to travel all over the world to countries including Iraq, Lebanon, Cuba, Uganda, Gaza, Somalia and more, creating content for VICE Media, The Economist, Vocativ, The Nation, Ryot News, Seeker Media and more. Dylan is now based in Tulsa, Oklahoma and married to Ashley Roberts.

Stephen Greenwood

As Director of Creative Development, Stephen leads the strategy and execution of new and ongoing video conceptual development for Seeker, the science and exploration vertical launched by Discovery Digital Networks in 2015. In this role, Greenwood leads a team of creatives and writers to optimize and run new creative development and current show development across Seeker’s award-winning portfolio of web documentaries, shows, 360 video and interactive VR experiences.

Prior to joining Discovery in July 2016, Greenwood served as the Associate Creative Director at Reddit, where he launched the company’s first major investment in original, branded and internal video content. Greenwood also held two positions at Vox Media, first as Senior Producer, where the produced content for seven of Vox Media’s verticals, including Vox Creative’s first original, in-house advertisements, and later as Associate Creative Director, where he was a founding partner of Vox Media’s original content studio and in-house agency. Earlier in his career, he held various positions at SignEasy, Virgin America and AOL.

Greenwood has a B.A. in Design & Media Arts, and a B.F.A. in Film, Cinema and Video Studies from University of California, Los Angeles. Having produced content in 36 countries and remote corners of the world like Mongolia, New Zealand, Tanzania, Brazil and Madagascar, he is committed to bringing years of experience from field production and media development to his role at Seeker.

Tyson Sadler

Tyson Sadler is an award-winning freelance Virtual Reality journalist and documentary filmmaker. He has directed VR for The Huffington Post, Associated Press, The New York Times, and RYOT. His extensive news reporting and documentary work received critical attention following the 2010 earthquake in Haiti, Egypt during the 2013 coup d’état, South Sudan covering the ongoing humanitarian crisis, and in the Gaza Strip during the 2014 Israeli-Palestinian Conflict. His focus lies in international politics, conflict, and reconciliation. 

As a VR Director, Tyson has worked in some of the harshest conditions on the front lines of this years biggest news stories. He covered Europe’s refugee crisis in VR from France, Greece, and Lebanon. He shot a VR documentary in illegal gold mining pits in Western Ghana to illustrate human rights and child labor abuses. His most recent work is a 9-part series hosted by Susan Sarandon called ‘The Crossing’ which details the harrowing experience of refugees crossing the Aegean Sea from Turkey to the Greek Island of Lesvos. He holds a masters degree from Harvard University.

His areas of expertise are technology in academia, business models for investigative journalism, business analytics, artificial intelligence, software development, virtual reality, 360 degree video, augmented reality, and interactive applications for VR and AR. Michael is the founder and CEO for EolianVR, a software development and content production firm that builds AR and VR Applications for government and enterprise clients. Their team members have built and deployed applications on the Microsoft Hololens, the HTC Vive, the Oculus Rift, the GearVR, and the google cardboard.
